Humans are by nature supposed to have many more senses and limbs and organs, but something has been cutting them out before the emergence of any given human life.
It wasn't until the stochastic yet increasing birth of new demons that we became aware of what we lacked, and then new cybernetic technologies were developed to fill the gaps.
But these new Phantom Limbs merely use the cybernetic technologies as an integration point, they operate on a principle more like equivalent exchange.

A spiritual successor to Dharmatics, Ziran the Synchronizer and the Skeleton Keys, the MRD Vol.2 Smooth Operator of the Cyblessed, the Magical Man Machine, and complementary to Electric Samsara (post 3 with links to 1 and 2).
Phantom Limb Syndrome uses Concept Crafting. Any given Phantom Limb is a combination of two WORDs (or three for Advanced Phantom Limbs), usually FEATURE + LIMB.
FEATURE is any unique quality applied to the LIMB, the thing that makes it special.
LIMB can be a limb but also an organ, sense, engram (memory/cognition), or some other cybernetic biological replacement.
The Equivalent Exchange is made with a Demon, it is the organ and its function that is replaced with the Phantom Limb.
Phantom Limb Examples
Floater's Fallow
WORDS: FALLOW + EYE
Eye Exchanged with Famine
Your yellowing dead eye rests loosely in a metal socket, in a noxious ferment obscured by wriggling floaters. Although the eye no longer sees, the floaters whisper directly into your auditory cortex. They tell you of thin places borne from festering wounds; infections, psychological crises, structural weakness, civil unrest, ecological collapse. They tell you where to forage, but not what wild things you'll find.
Find weaknesses, weird happenings, and cursed items.
Black Hole Blood Nova
WORDS: SUPERNOVA + BLOOD
Blood Exchanged with Typhon
They pumped your blood through a black hole. You watched your DNA unravel, your entire lineage, that which was, is, and could have been, collapsed in an event horizon. Your being barely held together in a cybernetic snakeskin stitch, when you molt, you temporarily discorporate in a violent spacetime rending "supernova".
Access genetic memories; can explode at physical and mental cost, must recover before exploding again.
Radionic Angel
WORDS: RADIO + EAR
Ear Exchanged with Mammon
Ear Exchanged with Mammon
Ears are weird mechanical devices folded like nothing else in nature for sonic cartography, literally bending invisible waves of sound into a map of the world. The Radionic Angel is a multidimensional familiar; the biblically accurate angel of ears. It shimmers eerily to any sound in the vicinity, the sound congealing with extradimensional substances, like a holographic projection of events on the other side of a door or radio signal.
Glean more information than was supplied from any sounds, whether that be holographic representation of obscured visuals, lies and omissions, or context from the past or future.
Hand of Atlas
WORDS: CATCH + HAND
Hand Exchanged with Atlas
Something between a web and a claw, sticky and covered in metallic chitin, ending in a long stabilizing piston thrusting at supersonic speeds. The hand undulates with a simple mind of its own, like a crustacean bottom-feeding off the grime that drips from the material world.
Can catch and hold anything, however improbable.
Horn of the Witching Hour
WORDS: TWILIGHT + BRAIN
Prefrontal Cortex Exchanged with Nightmare
The metacortex, a mandragoran brain region extending over the prefrontal cortex in a crushing embrace, extends outward as a spiraling vantablack horn haloed in a SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) harness. Eyelids half-open in a state of Violent Eye Movement metaconsciousness, you perceive and materialize undead dreams.
Oneirokinesis: Sense and materialize dreams, including haunts of the undead.
Vorpal Hyperheart
WORDS: VORPAL + HEART
Heart Exchanged with Jabberwock
A ritual, an open heart surgery that requires one to be conscious (recognizing it's role in cognition as the Egyptians did), the heart is inverted upon itself into a four-dimensional Klein Bottle. The veiny blue neck protrudes around the collar and shoulder, and as the hyperdimensional blood flows is a navy blue pulsing ball plasma.
Plasma beam projection; the more loved something is (especially by you), the more powerful you become against it.
YOU THOUGHT I'D NEVER POST AGAIN DIDN'T YOU!? Well, I lost my streak of >=1 post / month since mid-2018, but that's ok. Tbh I don't really have the juice anymore, but hopefully there will still be more to come.
